TRI/Princeton Publishes Hair/Skin Variations Program, Calls for Posters

TRI/Princeton has published a preliminary program for its Variations of Hair and Skin: Ethnicity, Age and Health conference, in addition to a last call for poster submissions.

The conference, taking place in Princeton, N.J., USA on Nov. 1-3, 2009, will provide both industrial and academic scientists with a platform to discuss hair and skin variations determined genetically as well as changes incurred by aging, environmental stress, disease and treatments. Discussions will also include tailoring technologies to address these variations or to mask their effects. The conference will present data that not only shows measurable differences in hair and skin due to ethnicity, age and health, but also illustrates how consumer perception may be objectively measured.

Lectures will be given by Desmond Tobin; Victoria Holloway-Barbosa, PhD; Reinhold Dauskardt; and Raymond Boissy, who will cover fundamental principles, new results and techniques to measure or address such variations.

While attendee registrations are still being accepted, TRI/Princeton has made its final call for posters. Suggested topics include: health and disorders; biological stress influences on skin health and hair growth; environmental effects on skin health and hair quality biology and age; hair uptake of drugs and nutrients-metabolic reactions; biological and physical differences of ethnic hair and skin types recognition and appearance; measures of softness, texture, focus and color; ethnic hair and skin profiling measurement and treatment, analysis and quantification of damage; and perspectives in hair straightening.

Abstracts for poster presentations must be submitted by Oct. 1, 2009. Interested applicants should email abstracts to the conference organizer at [email protected] or complete the abstract submission form on the conference Web site. Additional information about the event can be found at C&T magazine's online Event Calendar.
