Conditioning Agents for Hair Formulations

Inolex Chemical Company has launched two new conditioning technologies that are designed for hair care formulations.
Kerazyne (INCI: Polyester-11) is a patented polymeric conditioning additive that reduces static charge and improves combability in hair care products. This polyesteramine imparts the emolliency and gloss characteristic of an ester and the cationic activity of an amine. It is effective at additive levels.
The additive is recommended for formulation into cream conditioners and cream styling products. It is manufactured by the condensing polymerization of high purity petrochemical and vegetable-derived ingredients.
According to the company, this highly hydrophobic and lubricious additive provides more intensive conditioning than standard conditioning additives such as polyquaternium polymers and amodimethicone. Typical use level is 0.5-2%.
ProCondition 22 (INCI: Brassicamidopropyl dimethylamine) is a next generation amidoamine conditioning base. It contains a majority of behenyl (C22) compounds that yield improved dry combability without build-up. It provides the benefits of traditional amidoamines, along with behenyl conditioning, and enhanced viscometrics. The ingredient is both biodegradable and minimally irritating.
