Emulsion Stabilizer Derived from Orange Pulp
Posted: March 23, 2010
Fiberstar Inc. will launch an emulsion stabilizer derived from orange pulp at In-Cosmetics in Paris. Imulsi-Fi (INCI: Citrus Aurantium Sinensis (Orange) Fiber) is said to have a cellular structure and chemical composition that imparts both hydrophilic and lipophilic properties.
The orange fiber reportedly lowers interfacial tension to stabilize o/w matrices. According to the company, the stabilizer provides robust protection against coalescence throughout a product's shelf life. O/W mixtures formulated with the stabilizer are pH, heat and freeze/thaw stable.
The stabilizer is Ecocert certified and is said to add desirable sensory characteristics to formulations. A wide range of applications can be formulated with 1-5% of this odor-free stabilizer.
