Wood-derived Natural Colloidal Thickener

LCW Sensient has launched a natural colloidal thickener derived from wood. Natpure Cellgum Plus (INCI: Microcrystalline cellulose (and) cellulose gum (and) cellulose) is designed to be formulated into spray products. It is reported as a beneficial emulsifier for surfactant-free o/w emulsions.

According to the company, the ingredient has outstanding waterproof and non-transfer properties in association with hydrophobic powders and pigments. It also improves the stability of formulations containing high concentrations of pigments. The thickener's gel has a thixotropic nature that can be adapted to formulate spray products for makeup, skin care and sun care applications. The thickener can improve sensory aspects of formulas, making them feel smoother and less sticky in texture.

The company has also introduced Natpure Hollowbead to complete its existing line of mineral products including colors, ingredients and surface treated pigments. This nonabsorbent powder is composed of lightweight, spherical, hollow beads with unique properties. Its spherical form gives a ball-bearing effect and high slip.

The ingredient is transparent and provides a natural look. Also, it can be used as an alternative for PMMA beads in natural products.
