Coast Southwest introduced Olivatis, a line of olive oil-derived emulsifiers manufactured by Medolla Cosmetic Specialty Ingredients. The line, which includes Olivatis 11 (INCI: Polyglyceryl-3 Olivate Phosphate), 12 (INCI: Polyglyceryl-3 Pentaolivate), 13 (INCI: Polyglyceryl-3 Cetearyl Ether Olivate) and 15 (INCI: Olive Oil Glycereth-8 Esters) imparts a luxurious skin feel and an elegant texture while providing stability to a finished beauty product.

Olivatis emulsifiers are natural, sustainable, PEG-free and ideal for non-ionic systems. Olivatis 11 is a PEG-free substitute for laureth-4 that functions as a secondary emulsifier to increase stability in o/w systems. It can be used with up to 40% natural oils. Olivatis 12 disperses color well and promotes liquid crystals. It also enhances brilliance in lip and hair care and provides water repellency in w/o formulations. Olivatis 13 is the most popular of the line’s products, with stability at high and low temperatures, long-lasting emollient properties in o/w systems and no need for a viscosity modifier. Finally, Olivatis 15 is water soluble, not water dispersible, allowing formulators to add olive oil to the water phase. It has no impact on foam or viscosity and reduces tackiness of glycerin and panthenol.
