Hair Shine Ingredient, Plant-based Solubilizer and Sustainable Surfactant from Soliance
Posted: April 2, 2013
Soliance is debuting three new ingredients at in-cosmetics 2013 in Paris: a hair shine ingredient, a plant-based solubilizer and a sustainable surfactant.
Glossyliance (INCI: Not Provided) was created using extracts of sugar cane and lemon zest, obtained with a mix of alpha hydroxy acids. The blend is found to smooth hair and increase shine. The effects of the ingredient were observed ex vivo under a scanning electron microscope, where the hair had been treated with a shampoo formulated with 5% of the ingredient. The company found it to visibly smooth hair scales. The company also validated through in vivo and clinical testing that the ingredient increases shine.
Soliance has created Sophogreen (INCI: Not Provided), a plant-based solubilizer comprised of a high concentration of sophorolipids. To produce the solubilizer, Soliance developed an industrial process based on biotechnology. This process comprises three main steps: a phase of fermentation, a bioconversion phase and a purification phase. The solubilizer is free of GMOs and palm.
Finally, the company has launched a mild, sustainable surfactant for rinse-off formulations. The polar head of Appygreen 812 (INCI: Not Provided) is obtained from non-digestible sugars from hemicellulose. The surfactant improves cleaning and increases the viscosity and foam volume of formulations. In addition, the surfactant is cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
