Stephenson Personal Care has launched two new lines—a line of multifunctional rinse-off concentrates and a line of of oil and water soluble emulsifiers. Both Durosoft and Duroclens are derived from natural sources.

Durosoft is a range of polyglycerol esters produced from vegetable oils and glycerin that serve as liquid, multifunctional, substantive, foam-enhancing cosmetic ingredients. The line includes: Durosoft BR (INCI: Borago Officinalis Seed Oil Polyglycerol-4 Esters), Durosoft PK (INCI: Elaeis Guineensis (Palm Kernel) Oil Polyglycerol-4 Esters), Durosoft FX (INCI: Linum Usitatissimum (Flax) Seed Oil Polyglycerol-4 Esters), Durosoft SF (INCI: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil Polyglycerol-4 Esters) and Durosoft OV (INCI: Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil Polyglycerol-4 Esters).

The range can serve as emulsifiers (o/w, w/o and co-emulsifiers), co-surfactants (non-ionic), solubilizers and rheology modifiers. They are both water and oil soluble in addition to being cold processable. In addition to being naturally derived, the line is PEG-free and non-nitrosamine forming. According to the company, the polyglycerol esters can enhance skin texture and contains ingredients that are known to be beneficial to cosmetic formulations.

Duroclens is a range of oil based concentrated cleansing ingredients. The line includes Duroclens FX, a flax oil concentrate; Duroclens BR, a borage oil concentrate; Duroclens OV, an olive oil concentrate; Duroclens PK, palm kernel oil concentrate; and Duroclens SF, a sunflower oil concentrate. The INCI names for the range have not been provided.

The line can be used as the sole cleansing ingredient or in conjunction with surfactants such as betaine. The cleansing concentrates can be thickened with salt and/or other thickeners.
