SabiLize Beta (INCI: Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark Oil (and) Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil (and) Cymbopogon Citratus (Lemongrass) Leaf Oil (and) Glyceryl Laurate (and) Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Leaf Oil) is a blend of natural antimicrobial actives.
Both are said to be effective against Staphylococcus aureus (Gram-positive bacteria) at 0.5%, Escherichia coli (Gram-negative bacteria) at 0.5%, Candida albicans (yeast) at 0.5% and Aspergillus niger (filamentous fungi) at 1%. According to the company, the main difference between the two is the antioxidant efficacy; the Alpha product has an ORAC value of 4,349 ±1,202 (μmol TE/g), compared with the Beta product, with an ORAC value of 3,729 ±1,076 (μmol TE/g).
Both products are yellow in color and have a characteristic and aromatic aroma. The two preservatives are recommended at 0.2–1.0% and have an optimum pH activity of 4.0–8.0. They are manufactured by super critical fluid extraction, selective fractionation and blending, and they are soluble in oils, fats and non-polar solvents.
