Title: Micron-sized Carbon Black for Color Cosmetics
  • Article

Tagra Biotechnologies has launched a non-nano encapsulated carbon black for color cosmetic application. CarbonCap (INCI: Not Provided) are carbon black microcapsules that have been coated with transparent polymer.

The microcapsule is highly loaded with pigment, which allows for color saturation in the finished product. The product is ~2 micron, enabling easy dispersion. Also, because it is not a nano-sized product, special regulations for nano-materials are not needed and product registration is simpler.

The micron size ensures color uniformity and stability with no agglomerates apparition, giving a strong black color to the formulation. The product is suitable for liquid and powder based color formulations, but is recommended for mascaras and eyeliners.
