At In-Cosmetics in Barcelona, Bluestar Silicones added two silicones to its Mirasil line, one designed to add shine and one designed to condition.
Mirasil Bright (INCI: Not Provided) allows formulators to enhance the shine effect of products such as shampoo, conditioner and hair lotions. In addition, the silicone allows hair care products to meet an increasing range of consumer requirements, such as improved volume, protection against the outside elements, long-lasting hold, supple hold and natural shine. According to the company, the product produced 2.6 times the shine than untreated hair or hair treated with other hair formulations on the market when assessed by optical analysis. Beyond its hair applications, the silicone can be formulated into cosmetic applications such as mascara, lipstick, etc. due to its high-gloss characteristics.
The company also launched Mirasil ADMH B100 (INCI: Not Provided), a conditioning agent that prevents hair color fade due to its thermal resistance and capacity to absorb free radicals. An independent laboratory conducted several shampoo, rinse and blow-drying cycles with untreated hair, hair treated with the ingredient and hair treated with other formulations on the market. After optical analysis, it reported that the ingredient preserved hair color five times better than untreated hair or hair treated with other hair formulations on the market. The analyses performed also showed a four-fold increase in the absorption of free radicals and antioxidant capacities of a cream containing 3% of the ingredient, compared to the same cream without it. According to the company, the ability of the ingredient to absorb free radicals, also allow it to be formulated into makeup, skin care and sun care.
