Title: Styling Polymer for Hold in Aerosols
  • Article

DSM Nutritional Products has created a styling polymer for aerosol hair sprays that offers hold and fast drying without stickiness. Tilamar Fix A140 (INCI: Water (aqua) (and) Acrylates Copolymer) is removed easily with no flaking or buildup.

The company conducted salon testing and three-point bending tests to demonstrate the polymer's ability to hold. In addition, testing was conducted to show high humidity curl retention for a long-lasting hold. Its ability to dry quickly without being sticky was also confirmed with hair swatches and in salon testing.

The polymer delivers the above benefits in the presence of water; therefore it is also suitable for aqueous based formulations such as VOC55 aerosols and nonaerosols. The polymer has excellent formulation compatability. In addition, it has clear solubility and good propellant compatibility.
