Delivering Actives to Skin with Bar Soap

Twincraft Soap Company has created a bar soap that incorporates two separate delivery systems with two different encapsulated ingredients. The technology was developed with Salvona Technologies; however, Twincraft will provide the technology. The bar features encapsulated salicylic acid and encapsulated hyaluronic acid. The salicylic acid helps to treat acne while the hyaluronic acid was incorporated to smooth wrinkles and fine lines.

According to the company, both of these active ingredients adhere to the skin’s surface even after rinsing with water and patting dry. The encapsulates release the actives onto skin after they are triggered by water or a change in pH.

“This is the direction bar soap is headed,” says Joe Candido, vice president of innovation for Twincraft, in a company press release. “To stay competitive, it’s not enough for bar soaps to just cleanse. They have to provide real and effective treatment."

These bar soap delivery systems have already been incorporated in several bar soap products from market leaders, according to the company. Recent applications also incorporate ingredients such as: silver; acai berry extract; willow bark extract; vitamins A, B1, B6 and E; white tea extract and shea butter.
