Prod'hyg Debuts Cell Energizing Blackcurrant Bud Extract

At in-cosmetics Asia in Bangkok, Prod'hyg will be discussing its blackcurrant bud extract that was designed to energize and oxygenate the skin. Prodhygem O2 (INCI: Ribes Nigrum Extract (and) Glycerin (and) Potassium Sorbate (and) Citric Acid (and) Sodium Benzoate) was produced based "gemmotherapy," a practices that focuses on the meristem, vegetal tissue in a plant's bud as the plant's growth area and energy hub.

To harvest the blackcurrant buds, the company uses a specific extraction method to source both the native and vital molecules concentrated in that region. Blackcurrant has been cultivated since the 18th century, a time during which blackcurrant gemmotherapy was recognized as the "elixir of life."

Prodhygem O2 is hydroglycerinated extract of French blackcurrant buds. A product of the sustainable and environmentally sound agriculture of Burgundy (France), this ingredient promotes endemic and sustainable short supply chains.

Prodhygem O2 has a booster effect in the skin's cells and targets its action at the very heart of biological energy cycles and more specifically those promoting the synthesis of adernosine triphosphate (ATP). The tests performed on the production of ATP within the mitochondria showed that Prodhygem O2 can boost ATP production by up to 60%. Follow-up of G6PDH expression confirmed the stimulation of cell energizing activity with the blackcurrant extract. In addition, at a concentration of 40 mg/ml, mitochondrial respiration is multiplied by 14. Cell oxygenation is improved, and energy is released.

The extract is recommended at 0.5-1% in skin care for tired and devitalized skin, eye contour care, anti-aging care, toners and men's care.
