Evonik launched Tego Solve 55 (proposed INCI: Polyglyceryl-3 Caprylate/Caprate/ Succinate; Propylene Glycol), a PEG-free solubilizer for essential and perfume oils in water-based cosmetic formulations. The preparation of mixtures with oils and water is due to the cold processability and ease of handling.
An example of its efficiency for the solubilizing of essential oils includes rosemary, lemon, lemongrass or lavender oil. Benefits applicable for this polyglycerin ester include clear cosmetic formulations and being electrolyte-resistant. Additionally, the ingredient displays mild cleansing properties, improved moisturization and skin feel benefits.
The ingredient is completely based on renewable raw materials such as on grapeseed- and palm kernel oil, which makes it most suitable for natural cosmetics. The ingredient’s preferred applications are in shampoos or body washes, micellar waters, gentle makeup remover, deo roll-on formulations and wet wipe solutions.
