Gel Network Fundamentals at C&T Summit

Gel networks are at the base of many modern skin care products and hair conditioners. Typical ingredients used include water, sodium lauryl sulfate, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol and/or cetyl/stearyl alcohol; although raw material suppliers have simplified this list further with multifunctional nonionic, mild surfactants along with a fatty alcohol; or even self-emulsifying gel network bases.

During the Cosmetics & Toiletries Summit, to be held June 26 and 27, 2014, George Deckner and Anthony J. O'Lenick, Jr., will present, in hands-on formulation workshops, the practical aspects of gel network-based o/w emulsions for skin and hair, followed by the theory and measurement techniques. This is but one of four workshops through which attendees will rotate, to learn formulating techniques. Other classes include optimizing formula efficacy, engineering sensory and communicating with Marketing. The presentation of the workshops and conference program are made possible, in part, through the support of sponsors.
