Pea Sprout Hair Growth Active

At in-cosmetics Asia 2012, Mibelle Biochemistry is launching a pea sprout-based active designed to fight hair loss. AnaGain (INCI: Pisum Sativum (Pea) Sprout Extract (and) Phenoxyethanol (and) Sodium Benzoate (and) Water (aqua) targets the dermal papilla cells to reactivate hair growth.

The active promotes fuller and thicker hair in three months. It not only stimulates hair growth at the root, but it also prolongs the lifecycle of hair.

The pea sprout compound has a dual mode of action on dermal papilla cells, which are key to the hair growth cycle. First it boosts the expression of the noggin gene, which results in a shorter telogen phase (the resting period of hair growth). It also enhances the expression of the fibroblast growth factor-7 gene. This, in turn, stimulates the proliferation of hair germ cells to grow hair.

In a clinical study, the pea sprout compound increased the hair growth coefficient (proportion of active hair follicles to degenerating ones) from 4 to 7.2, indicating a strong hair re-growing effect.
