Clariant’s recently launched indoor pollution-fighting active won the silver innovation award from the Institute of Technology and Studies for Cosmetics, Toiletries and Fragrances during in-cosmetics Latin America 2017.

Eosidin (INCI: Propanediol (and) Water (aqua) (and) Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract) is the first active solution developed to protect skin from indoor pollution damage, which can cause atopic-prone skin conditions as enclosed environments build up pollution from both indoors and out. Clariant won out over 31 other products in the category due to Eosidin's benefits to consumers in addition to showcasing uniqueness among other actives.

An extract of green citrus unshiu from the Jeju Island natural reserve in South Korea, Eosidin regulates immunomodulation and decreases hypersensitivity thanks to its highly potent molecules.

According to Ernesto Horikoshi, global head of Active Ingredients at Clariant, this award recognizes the team’s efforts in discovering overlooked solutions to improve people's daily lives.

Eosidin is the result of extensive teamwork, close collaboration with our partner Biospectrum and our own in-depth research,” explained Horikoshi. “Obtaining the award is made even more special for us at Clariant because it is our very first product launched in the field of cosmetic active ingredients.”

Clariant Active Ingredients was formed at the beginning of 2017, and developed the active in partnership with Biospectrum.

“Having an active ingredient developed, launched and awarded in such a short time frame, bypassing well-established competitors in this highly specialized field, has provided us with a lot of pleasure and given us a strong impulse to achieve more,” said Horikoshi.
