Acetyl hexapeptide-3, a synthetically derived peptide, is touted for its wrinkle relaxing ability. This peptide is said to prevent wrinkles by limiting facial muscle contractions. Consumers looking for alternatives to cosmetic surgery can now find dozens of skin care and makeup products using acetyl hexapeptide-3 for just that purpose. The Mintel Global New Products Database (GNPD) shows an increasing number of products using acetyl hexapeptide-3 around the world.
Revlon has introduced Botufit Eye Cream in New Zealand, a product that includes acetyl hexapeptide-3. When applied daily, the eye cream is said to strengthen the skin and re-outline the eye contours.
Another new product that is making a splash utilizing acetyl hexapeptide-3 is the Rival De Loop Revolution AR Premium Anti-Wrinkle Cream. Launched in Germany, the product claims to fight wrinkles caused by laughing, twinkling, and frowning.
Acetyl hexapeptide-3 is also being found in several color cosmetics. Elizabeth Arden has recently launched Ceramide Plump Perfect in South Africa. This line, endorsed by Catherine Zeta-Jones, has been a product of interest in many other countries as well. The use of the peptide helps the product to diminish lines and visible signs of aging. The makeup product also contains SPF 15.
Another interesting example of a product that uses acetyl hexapeptide-3 is Estee Lauder Perfectionist Correcting Concentrate for Deeper Facial Lines and Wrinkles. Found on shelves in Japan, this pencil-like product is designed to be used on problem areas around the eyes, forehead, and in between the brows. It is said to camouflage wrinkles by controlling the way the light reflects on the skin.
