Title: TCM-inspired Active for Asian Skin Anti-aging
  • Article

Sederma has developed an anti-aging active based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Měiritage (INCI: Glycerin (and) Astragalus Membranaceus Root Extract (and) Atractyloides Macrocephalia Root Extract (and) Bupleurum Falcatum Root Extract) is designed to address problems specific to Asian skin, including: pigmented spots, dehydration and sensitivity to external aggressions.

The active combines three root extracts, which were used according to the principles of TCM. It cares the skin in a similar way that Yin and Yang equilibrate the forces by rebalancing both the dermis and the epidermis. Měiritage specifically targets the newly discovered Yin-Yang-1 protein to adjust the epidermis maturation. The complexion is lightened, wrinkles are reduced, hydration is improved and protection against oxidative stress (UV radiation, air pollution) is reinforced.

Studies conducted by the company showed the active at 3% in a cream to decrease melanin quantity and improve luminosity after just one month in Caucasian and Asian skin. These results were confirmed by judges who also noticed a significant smoothing effect on wrinkles.
