Rahn targets the proteasome to prevent the first signs of aging in its latest active launch. Proteolea (INCI: Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract (and) Ziziphus Zizyphus (Chinese Date) Extract (and) Levan) was designed for anti-aging products for the face and body.
The active is said to reverse six years of aging in the eye area in only four weeks. Proteasomes, the recycling system of cells, are targeted by the oleuropein in the olive extract. The oleuropein stimulates the action of proteasomes, which slows with age, thereby allowing excessive cellular waste such as oxidized proteins to be degraded more efficiently. The blend also incorporates a Chinese date (jujube) extract to enhance the antioxidative defense system of the skin, thus preventing the formation of oxidized proteins, and tone the skin. The polysaccharide levan is also included to build a tightening film on the skin.
The active is said to improve various symptoms of premature skin aging such as skin roughness, lack of hydration and reduced cell renewal. Tests conducted by the company showed the active to improve stress resistance and slow down cellular skin aging in vitro. The active is water-soluble and can be easily incorporated into cosmetic formulations such as creams, gels and emulsions. It is recommended for use at 1–5%
