One of the things that a consumer and their skin can not live without is oxygen, according to Bliss. TheTriple Oxygen Ex-‘glow”-sion! Vitabead-Infused Moisture Cream contains oxygen and microalgae for an instant burst of youthful radiance. Its formula provides an explosion of antioxidant vitamin E on contact, as vitamin C and three forms of oxygen help deliver beautiful, younger-looking skin. This column will review the ingredient listing for functionality and claims substantiation.
The product is an o/w emulsion with glycerin and butylene glycol as humectants. Cetyl alcohol appears relatively high in the deck and is a primary thickener along with emulsifers sorbitan stearate, glyceryl stearate, potassium cetyl phosphate, PEG-23 glyceryl distearate, PEG-12 glyceryl dimyristate, cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate. The thickening/stabilizing agent is carbomer, which is neutralized by sodium hydroxide instead of the more typically used triethanolamine. Silicone derivatives dimethicone and cylcopentasiloxane add slip and help detackify the formula. The emollients are caprylic/ capric triglycerides, coco-caprylate, Butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, jojoba esters (the “vitabeads”) and Helianthus aannuus (sunflower) seed oil.
The “bio-active” or cosmeceutical ingredients are tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, a stabilized ester of vitamin C; Prunus persica (peach) leaf extract, hydrolyzed soy protein, Vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E) and retinyl palmitate (vitamin A). Maltooligosyl glucoside/ hydrogenated starch hydrolysate is a carbohydrate syrup derived from starch that significantly reduces irritancy. Perfluorohexane, perfluoroperhydrophenanthrene and perfluorodecalin are the “three forms of oxygen” as saturated oxygen gas can be released to the skin and support natural cell respiration and collagen synthesis. I did not see any ingredient that corresponds to “micro-algae” in this deck.
Fragrance as well as the fragrance components are limonene, linalool, hexyl cinnamal and butylphenyl methylpropional. The opacifying agents are titanium dioxide and mica. The colorants are tin oxide, ethylbisiminoethylguaiacol manganese chloride, yellow 5 lake, talc, red 30, red 33. The preservative system is comprised of phenoxyethanol, imidazolidinyl urea, potassium sorbate, methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone.
