Jamaica Entering New Market

Jamaica is drawing ingredients from local producers to enter the market of cosmeceuticals and nutraceuticals.  According to the Jamaican Scientific Research Council(SRC) an investment of US$19 million, partially funded by the Organization of American States, will help further the product development.

True to Jamaican form, the product research for entry into the personal care market will focus on natural ingredients.  The country's well-known herb and spice market will be a main component in the development of the new products. By producing natural personal care products, Jamaica is reportedly looking to enter the rapidly growing market. According to an article in the Jamaican Sunday Observer, the product development may be already completed, which would leave only efficacy and safety tests left to complete.

After the testing is done, the SRC will reportedly approach cosmetics producers for the distribution and marketing of the products both domestically and worldwide.
