Hair Fixative Polymer With Natural Content

AkzoNobel Global Personal Care has launched a naturally-derived  fixative polymer for clear hair gels, spray gels, creams, lotions and mousses. Biostyle CGP (INCI: Maltodextrin/VP Copolymer) provides the clarity and rheology normally associated with synthetic fixative polymers, but contains more than 50% renewable content.

The copolymer's performance is said to be equal to or better than market-leading synthetic polymers for gels and other styling aids. For example, it reportedly creates clear styling gels that perform as effectively as market leading polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) or VP/VA polymers in terms of gel properties, performance and aesthetics. This performance is obtained by combining synthetic and natural components.

According to the company, formulators can use the copolymer to create natural or sustainable styling formulations without compromising on cost, gel clarity, product aesthetics or hair performance

In addition to hair styling products, the copolymer is also recommended for ethnic hair products and skin care products.
